JOB TITLE: Accounting Specialist

POSITION NUMBER: 2205-C-AS

POSITION LOCATION: Atlanta, GA, USA

ANTICIPATED START DATE: Two weeks after candidate identification

TRAVEL: As required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position

ASRT, Inc. provides scientific, information management, management consulting, bioinformatics, and administrative program support to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other Federal and private sector clients. The successful candidate will be a part-time employee of ASRT, Inc. and will be assigned to ASRT's Corporate office.

SCOPE OF WORK

The Accounting Specialist will assist the Contracts and Accounting departments with financial statement preparation, account analysis and reconciliations, cash flow analysis, budgets and forecasting, audit preparation, internal control maintenance, regulatory reporting, cost proposals, and contract file maintenance in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Part 31.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the execution of monthly close procedures and deliverables by recording assigned journal entries.
  • Record transactions in the accounting system in accordance with GAAP and DCAA guidelines.
  • Communicate directly with employees to ensure timecards are completed with accuracy for every pay period and end of month for payroll and billing.
  • Work closely with Accounting Manager on payroll allocations, reporting, and processing.
  • Verify the accuracy of payroll, billing, and reporting data before processing.
  • Review travel requests and expense reimbursements for accuracy.
  • Generate timecard reports for monthly billings.
  • Assist by gathering records and documentation to facilitate audits.
  • Aid in the maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures to ensure compliance with appropriate regulations.
  • Support annual budget process and the development of indirect cost rates.
  • Collaborate with the contracts and program management teams to respond to proposal requests from the U.S. Government and commercial customers.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports for contract awards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with accounting software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required.
  • Three to five years of related experience required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Language Skills:

  • The candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

REQUIREMENT:

  • Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident or have authorization for employment in the United States.
