ASRT, Inc. provides scientific, information management, management consulting, bioinformatics, and administrative program support to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other Federal and private sector clients. The successful candidate will be assigned to the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID), Division of Foodborne, Waterborne, and Environmental Diseases (DFWED), Office of Director (OD), at the CDC, 1600 Clifton Road, Atlanta, GA, to implement a modernized PulseNet solution.

Scope of Work

Provide technical and intellectual support to design, develop, and implement a modernized PulseNet solution using an open-source, scalable architecture approach that is most aligned with CDC's data modernization initiative future vision of an open and connected public health genomics network and supports the development of reusable platforms and systems that can be applied and utilized beyond a single program.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Establish Cloud Infrastructure/ Environments, Tools, Security for Development/Testing Modules/System.
• Integrate open-source code with PulseNet core reusing legacy code as appropriate and directed by PulseNet and DMI.
• Perform software coding and test construction.
• Database development and data migration preparation.
• Establish Cloud Infrastructure/ Environments, Tools, Security for Integration/Acceptance Testing/Production.
• Test and evaluate software, data, and integrations (Minimum Viable Product).
• Participate in security and acceptance testing (Authorization for Go Live).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in computer science or a field related to the requirements of the position.

Required:

• 2-3 years' experience in MySQL Server, Azure and Database administration
• Performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Replication, scripting, stored procedures, functions.
• Organizational skills demonstrating high attention to detail and the ability to organize multiple priorities.
• Strong interpersonal skills required to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to work independently and yet maintain the flexibility to respond to requests for support of ongoing projects.

Desirable:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Comfort working in a fast paced and highly interdisciplinary environment.

Language Skills:

• The candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

REQUIREMENT:

• Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident or have authorization for employment in the United States.
