JOB TITLE:  Epidemiologist I

POSITION NUMBER:  2008-TA6-Epi-01

POSITION LOCATION:  Atlanta, GA, USA

ANTICIPATED START DATE:  Two weeks after candidate identification

TRAVEL:  As required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position

ASRT, Inc. provides scientific, information management, management consulting, bioinformatics, and administrative program support to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other Federal and private sector clients.  The successful candidate will be a full-time employee of ASRT, Inc. and will be assigned to the Division of Injury Prevention (DIP), National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC), at the CDC, 4770 Buford Highway NE, Atlanta, GA, to provide support for the analysis, management and collection of various forms of qualitative and quantitative data.

SCOPE OF WORK

The Epidemiologist I will provide support for the oversight and direction of epidemiological studies.  This includes, but is not limited to, the editing of study materials, dissemination of study information and interaction with subject matter experts (SMEs) on a variety of study topics.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversight and direction of epidemiologic studies, with particular experience implementing studies in the field.
  • Ensure study materials (e.g., recruiting material, questionnaires, consent forms, newsletters, results packages) are accurate and available for study teams.
  • Coordinate logistics with study team leads, including providing maps, directions, itineraries, and contact information.
  • Coordinate with NCIPC subject matter experts to ensure correct and appropriate sample collection materials are available for teams in the field.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 3-5 years of experience, in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, biological sciences or a field related to the requirements of the position.
  • Master's Degree with 1-2 years of experience, in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, biological sciences or a field related to the requirements of the position.

Required:

  • Experience working with epidemiological surveillance systems at the state or federal level
  • Communications skills demonstrating clear, rapid and accurate dissemination of information related to the conduct of epidemiological surveillance
  • Organizational skills demonstrating high attention to detail and the ability to organize multiple priorities related to the conducting activities and advocacy groups
  • Strong interpersonal skills required for team work and interaction with people across CDC and with external partners
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide audience regarding technical, detailed information

Desirable:

  • Experience writing project reports, research protocols, SOPs and manuscripts
  • Ability to synthesize new ideas for project research
  • Ability to work with databases

Language Skills:

  • The candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English

REQUIREMENT:

  • Must be United States citizen or permanent resident or have authorization for employment in the United States
