TRAVEL: As required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position
ASRT, Inc. provides scientific, information management, management consulting, bioinformatics, and administrative program support to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other Federal and private sector clients. The successful candidate will be a full-time employee of ASRT, Inc. and will be assigned to the Division of Injury Prevention (DIP), National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC), at the CDC, 4770 Buford Highway NE, Atlanta, GA, to provide support for the translation of clinical research into necessary deliverables.
SCOPE OF WORK
The Epidemiologist III will provide support for the translation of clinical research into actionable reports and other deliverables while using best-practices for dissemination of scientific information.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Development of research methods to determine the impact, at the national level, of surveys to assess awareness of high impact research activity i.e. ConsumerStyles surveys
- Development and testing of data collection instruments such as surveys and interviews in coordination with internal and external partners
- Analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, generated from program data collection efforts, and preparation of formative and summative scientific communications
- Development of analysis means utilizing data using machine learning, natural language processing and social network analyses
- Analysis of geolocation data using tools such as ESRI ArcGIS. Visualization of injury-related data, as related to shared risk, protective factors or morbidity and mortality
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Advanced degree in Epidemiology (PhD) or professional degree (MD) with equivalent experience in the field related to the responsibilities of the position
- 5-10 years professional experience, as related to the responsibilities of the position
Required:
- Experience with an emphasis on epidemiology principles, concepts, and methods to assist with study design, sampling strategies, and analytical plans
- Experience and expertise in data collection, literature review, meta-analysis, and development of peer-reviewed journal manuscripts
- Experience working with injury and violence prevention data/subject matter
- Experience with working on public health practice, building State, Tribal, Territorial, and Local Health Department capacity and infrastructure
- Experience, with emphasis on machine learning and natural language processing
- Experience in social network analyses
- Experience working on translating shared risk and protective factors or morbidity and mortality data with Tableau and other data visualization software.
- Experience with the evaluation of complex scientific materials and research results and synthesis of various communications from these materials
- Ability to collaborate with scientists in diverse research, development, and production laboratories
- Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for the preparation of memos and reports
- Strong interpersonal skills required for teamwork and interaction with people across CDC and with external partners.
- Strong written and oral presentation skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable:
- Previous experience working in a similar role
- Demonstrated skills and experience writing project reports, research protocols and manuscripts
- Knowledge of research, development and scientific processes
- Ability to work independently with limited direction or interaction
Language Skills:
- The candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English
REQUIREMENT:
- Must be United States citizen or permanent resident or have authorization for employment in the United States
