ASRT, Inc. provides scientific, information management, management consulting, bioinformatics, and administrative program support to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other Federal and private sector clients. The successful candidate will be a full-time employee of ASRT, Inc. and will be assigned to the Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention (DHDSP), National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP), at the CDC, 1600 Clifton Road, Atlanta, GA, to provide support for conducting Community-based participatory research testing health equity indicators.

SCOPE OF WORK

The Health Scientist will provide evaluation and applied research and translation projects that support DHDSP objectives. Applied research may include project management, literature review and synthesis, and designing and conducting quantitative and qualitative studies.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify the science base that underlies health equity strategies by conducting evidence reviews.
  • Support the work of DHDSP by planning and acting as meeting facilitator for convening CDC health system partners, partner meetings, CDC leadership meetings, and leadership briefings. Meeting facilitation will include preparing a meeting summary that documents attendees, decisions made, and tasks assigned to participants.
  • Identify health equity indicators (to be implemented in collaboration with a community based participatory approach) through patient interviews, data collection, and literature reviews.
  • Facilitate data collection, analysis, and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data on health equity factors.
  • Develop dissemination products such as one-page overviews, 2-3-page reports or case study reports, and disseminate findings to partners. The specific products and dissemination strategy will be determined by the COR depending on the topic, key audience, and information available. All data collection activities will be conducted within Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) requirements. OMB submissions, if required, will be completed by CDC, and approved prior to any data collection activities.
  • Present project updates or summaries at CDC briefings, or presentations to CDC staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • An advanced degree in a field related to the health or allied sciences, such as a Master's degree in Public Health is required.
  • At least five years of documented experience working in public health, health sciences research, and/or program evaluation and performance measurement.

Required:

  • Desired experience working with the CDC, federal or related public health entities.
  • Experience with coordinating stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and experience.
  • Experience in the analysis and reporting of quantitative and qualitative data sets, including experience with various software tools for said data analysis (SAS, SPSS, NVivo, MaxQDA, etc.).
  • Experience with the development and deployment of publications for the dissemination of scientific data to populations of various scientific knowledge and the public.
  • Experience with the synthesis of scientific literature and other scientific material for both scientific and non-scientific audiences.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working in a similar role.
  • Desired specific work or training experience related to heart disease and stroke prevention, or management of chronic conditions is preferred.
  • Previous experience with IRB, OMB, and similar regulatory requirements/guidelines.

Language Skills:

  • The candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
